Il s\u2019agit alors d\u2019une structure visuelle expressive ou d\u00e9corative, qui se r\u00e9p\u00e8te g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement avec une forme bien d\u00e9finie, sur un support quelconque. Cette forme esth\u00e9tique peut tout \u00e0 fait avoir une valeur signifiante. Sans oublier, le motif comme \u00e9l\u00e9ment d\u2019ordre mental qui incite \u00e0 agir ou, selon le cas, \u00e0 r\u00e9agir. Le motif, est donc \u00e0 rapprocher de l\u2019intention, de la raison de faire quelque chose.<\/p>\n<p>Ici, les motifs pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s d\u00e9coulent de plans d\u2019architecture carc\u00e9rale datant du XIX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle. J\u2019ai r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9 ces plans num\u00e9riquement, les ai simplifi\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019outils informatiques, puis grav\u00e9s sur plaques de zinc, en m\u00ealant des techniques comme la d\u00e9coupe laser et la gravure \u00e0 l&rsquo;acide.<\/p>\n<p>J\u2019ai commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 m\u2019int\u00e9resser \u00e0 ces architectures pour leur esth\u00e9tique formelle, qui me semblait \u00eatre en contraste avec le sujet m\u00eame, comme un paradoxe manich\u00e9en entre le fond et la forme. Puis je me suis imagin\u00e9e vivre un long moment \u00e0 l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur de ces formes. A partir de l\u00e0, c\u2019est un rapport entre le corps, et l\u2019espace si particulier de la prison que je viens de mettre en avant. Si l\u2019esprit est contraint \u00e0 vivre dans ces b\u00e2timents, il en est de m\u00eame pour le corps. Et c\u2019est bien l&rsquo;extr\u00eame contrainte qui a fait na\u00eetre des espaces construits aussi g\u00e9om\u00e9triques, sym\u00e9triques, r\u00e9guliers et rationnels.
