System<\/em> est une installation lumineuse issue de System Failure<\/em>, r\u00e9alis\u00e9e en 2008 sous la forme d’un n\u00e9on vert clignotant portant les mots \u00ab SYSTEM FAILURE \u00bb. Endommag\u00e9e quelques ann\u00e9es plus tard, l’\u0153uvre perd accidentellement le mot \u00ab FAILURE \u00bb. \u00c0 partir de 2014, seul \u00ab SYSTEM \u00bb demeure.<\/p>\n

L’accident accomplit ainsi litt\u00e9ralement l’\u00e9nonc\u00e9 initial : System Failure<\/em> conna\u00eet sa propre d\u00e9faillance. Mais cette disparition produit un retournement. Le syst\u00e8me ne s’efface pas avec la panne ; il lui survit. Ce qui reste est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment le mot \u00ab SYSTEM \u00bb, isol\u00e9, clignotant, d\u00e9barrass\u00e9 de l’annonce explicite de sa chute.<\/p>\n

L’\u0153uvre se construit d\u00e8s lors dans cet \u00e9cart entre langage et \u00e9v\u00e9nement. \u00ab Failure \u00bb n’a plus besoin d’\u00eatre \u00e9crit puisque la d\u00e9faillance a eu lieu. Elle est pass\u00e9e du texte \u00e0 la mati\u00e8re m\u00eame de l’\u0153uvre. L’accident devient processus, et la d\u00e9t\u00e9rioration une forme involontaire de r\u00e9\u00e9criture.<\/p>\n

Le vert lumineux et le clignotement convoquent l’imaginaire des interfaces informatiques, du signal, de l’alerte et de la science-fiction. Mais System<\/em> ne d\u00e9signe plus seulement un syst\u00e8me technologique. Isol\u00e9, le mot peut renvoyer \u00e0 tout ensemble organis\u00e9, \u00e9conomique, politique, \u00e9cologique ou social, dont la permanence repose pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment sur sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 absorber ses propres crises.<\/p>\n

Entre panne et persistance, disparition et continuit\u00e9, System<\/em> pose finalement une question simple : que reste-t-il d’un syst\u00e8me apr\u00e8s sa d\u00e9faillance ? Ici, le syst\u00e8me reste.<\/p>\n

ystem<\/em> is a light installation derived from System Failure<\/em>, created in 2008 as a flashing green neon sign displaying the words \u201cSYSTEM FAILURE.\u201d A few years later, the work was accidentally damaged and the word \u201cFAILURE\u201d disappeared. From 2014 onward, only \u201cSYSTEM\u201d remained.<\/p>\n

The accident thus literally fulfilled the original statement: System Failure<\/em> experienced its own failure. Yet this disappearance produces a reversal. The system does not vanish with the breakdown; it survives it. What remains is precisely the word \u201cSYSTEM,\u201d isolated, flashing, stripped of the explicit announcement of its collapse.<\/p>\n

The work is therefore constructed within the gap between language and event. \u201cFailure\u201d no longer needs to be written because the failure has already occurred. It has moved from the text into the material reality of the work itself. The accident becomes a process, and deterioration becomes an involuntary form of rewriting.<\/p>\n

The green light and its flashing rhythm evoke the visual language of computer interfaces, signals, warnings, and science fiction. Yet System<\/em> no longer refers only to a technological system. Isolated, the word can refer to any organized structure, economic, political, ecological, or social, whose persistence may depend precisely on its ability to absorb its own crises.<\/p>\n

Between breakdown and persistence, disappearance and continuity, System<\/em> ultimately asks a simple question: what remains of a system after its failure? Here, the system remains.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
