R\u00e9alis\u00e9 en 2016, Landscapes<\/em> est un ensemble de trois dessins au stylo Bic ex\u00e9cut\u00e9s \u00e0 l’aide d’un traceur num\u00e9rique. Le dispositif repose sur une contrainte simple : le stylo n’est jamais relev\u00e9. Les lignes n\u00e9cessaires au dessin comme les d\u00e9placements de la machine entre deux zones sont donc tous conserv\u00e9s sur le papier.<\/p>\n

Le dessin enregistre ainsi autant une image qu’un processus. Aux fragments d\u00e9taill\u00e9s de paysages se superposent les trajectoires rectilignes du traceur, produisant une g\u00e9om\u00e9trie qui n’appartient ni compl\u00e8tement au paysage repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 ni compl\u00e8tement \u00e0 la forme pr\u00e9vue. Ce qui devrait normalement rester invisible, le d\u00e9placement technique de l’outil, devient visible.<\/p>\n

Les trois dessins, Landscape Monolith Judd<\/em>, Landscape Monolith Cloud<\/em> et Landscape Monolith Sogimoto<\/em>, font appara\u00eetre diff\u00e9rentes relations entre paysage et forme monolithique. Horizon, v\u00e9g\u00e9tation, nuages ou structures sont travers\u00e9s par une g\u00e9om\u00e9trie minimale qui semble simultan\u00e9ment organiser et perturber l’espace.<\/p>\n

La ligne continue produit alors deux dessins en un seul. Le premier correspond \u00e0 l’image programm\u00e9e ; le second est g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 par le comportement m\u00eame de la machine. Le traceur ne dispara\u00eet plus derri\u00e8re le r\u00e9sultat qu’il fabrique : ses mouvements deviennent une \u00e9criture autonome, une m\u00e9moire de l’ex\u00e9cution.<\/p>\n

Entre paysage, dessin et protocole, Landscapes<\/em> d\u00e9place ainsi l’attention de la repr\u00e9sentation vers les conditions de sa production. La machine ne se contente pas de reproduire un trac\u00e9 : en laissant visibles tous ses d\u00e9placements, elle inscrit son propre fonctionnement dans l’image.<\/p>\n

Created in 2016, Landscapes<\/em> is a group of three Bic pen drawings produced with a digital plotter. The device is based on a simple constraint: the pen is never lifted. The lines needed to make the drawing, as well as the machine\u2019s movements from one area to another, are therefore all preserved on the paper.<\/p>\n

The drawing thus records both an image and a process. Detailed fragments of landscape are overlaid with the straight trajectories of the plotter, producing a geometry that belongs neither entirely to the represented landscape nor entirely to the intended form. What would normally remain invisible, the technical movement of the tool, becomes visible.<\/p>\n

The three drawings, Landscape Monolith Judd<\/em>, Landscape Monolith Cloud<\/em>, and Landscape Monolith Sugimoto<\/em>, reveal different relationships between landscape and monolithic form. Horizon, vegetation, clouds, and structures are traversed by a minimal geometry that seems to organize and disrupt space at the same time.<\/p>\n

The continuous line therefore produces two drawings in one. The first corresponds to the programmed image; the second is generated by the behaviour of the machine itself. The plotter no longer disappears behind the result it produces: its movements become an autonomous writing, a memory of execution.<\/p>\n

Between landscape, drawing, and protocol, Landscapes<\/em> shifts attention away from representation and toward the conditions of its production.
