R\u00e9alis\u00e9 en 2013 avec Sophie Blum, Forever Until the End<\/em> est une installation in situ compos\u00e9e de messages d’erreurs informatiques directement inscrits par br\u00fblure sur les murs de la galerie. \u00ab OUT OF MEMORY \u00bb, \u00ab SERVICE TEMPORARILY OVERLOADED \u00bb, \u00ab UNABLE TO LOCATE HOST \u00bb, \u00ab REQUEST TIMEOUT \u00bb ou \u00ab A SERIOUS ERROR HAS OCCURRED \u00bb quittent ainsi l’\u00e9cran pour entrer physiquement dans l’espace.<\/p>\n

Sorties de leur contexte technique, ces phrases changent de statut. Elles ne d\u00e9crivent plus seulement les d\u00e9faillances d’un ordinateur ou d’un r\u00e9seau : elles peuvent \u00e9voquer des situations humaines, sociales, \u00e9conomiques ou \u00e9cologiques. Le vocabulaire de la machine devient un langage possible de la crise contemporaine.<\/p>\n

Le choix de la br\u00fblure accentue ce d\u00e9placement. L’erreur n’est pas simplement \u00e9crite, elle marque mat\u00e9riellement le mur. Le feu transforme le message en trace, entre graffiti, cicatrice et signal d’alerte. Ce qui, sur un \u00e9cran, serait temporaire et destin\u00e9 \u00e0 dispara\u00eetre apr\u00e8s r\u00e9solution du probl\u00e8me devient ici une inscription physique et durable.<\/p>\n

Le titre Forever Until the End<\/em> porte la m\u00eame contradiction. La formule \u00e9voque d’abord une promesse absolue, presque sentimentale, mais elle contient d\u00e9j\u00e0 sa propre limite : \u00ab toujours \u00bb ne dure que \u00ab jusqu’\u00e0 la fin \u00bb. Appliqu\u00e9e non plus seulement au couple mais aux syst\u00e8mes qui organisent la soci\u00e9t\u00e9, cette promesse devient ambigu\u00eb, entre pers\u00e9v\u00e9rance et effondrement.<\/p>\n

La succession des messages produit ainsi une forme de narration. Chaque erreur annonce un obstacle, mais aussi la tentative implicite de continuer malgr\u00e9 lui. Le bug ne constitue pas n\u00e9cessairement la fin du syst\u00e8me : il en r\u00e9v\u00e8le momentan\u00e9ment la fragilit\u00e9, les limites et les m\u00e9canismes habituellement invisibles.<\/p>\n

Forever Until the End<\/em> d\u00e9place finalement l’erreur du domaine informatique vers celui de l’exp\u00e9rience collective. La machine fournit le vocabulaire, le geste humain l’inscrit dans la mati\u00e8re, et le feu lui donne la forme d’un avertissement : un syst\u00e8me continue de fonctionner jusqu’au moment o\u00f9 ses erreurs ne peuvent plus \u00eatre ignor\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

Created in 2013 with Sophie Blum, Forever Until the End<\/em> is an in situ installation composed of computer error messages burned directly onto the gallery walls. \u201cOUT OF MEMORY,\u201d \u201cSERVICE TEMPORARILY OVERLOADED,\u201d \u201cUNABLE TO LOCATE HOST,\u201d \u201cREQUEST TIMEOUT,\u201d and \u201cA SERIOUS ERROR HAS OCCURRED\u201d thus leave the screen and enter physical space.<\/p>\n

Removed from their technical context, these phrases shift in meaning. They no longer describe only the failures of a computer or network: they can also evoke human, social, economic, or ecological situations. The language of the machine becomes a possible vocabulary for contemporary crisis.<\/p>\n

The use of burning intensifies this displacement. The error is not simply written; it physically marks the wall. Fire transforms the message into a trace, somewhere between graffiti, scar, and warning signal. What would normally appear temporarily on a screen and disappear once the problem is resolved becomes here a material and lasting inscription.<\/p>\n

The title Forever Until the End<\/em> carries the same contradiction. The phrase initially suggests an absolute promise, almost sentimental in tone, yet it already contains its own limit: \u201cforever\u201d lasts only \u201cuntil the end.\u201d Applied not only to personal relationships but also to the systems that organize society, this promise becomes ambiguous, suspended between persistence and collapse.<\/p>\n

The sequence of messages produces a form of narrative. Each error announces an obstacle, but also implies an attempt to continue despite it. A bug does not necessarily mean the end of a system; it temporarily exposes its fragility, its limits, and the mechanisms that usually remain invisible.<\/p>\n

Forever Until the End<\/em> ultimately shifts error from the field of computing into that of collective experience. The machine provides the vocabulary, the human gesture inscribes it into matter, and fire gives it the form of a warning: a system continues to function until the moment when its errors can no longer be ignored.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
